Event Details

A public address and media event and an all-day conference focused on awareness of and prevention of potential health impacts of global warming and climate change.

Education and Outreach with an emphasis on planning and prevention involving health professionals,
appointed and elected public officials and the general public

The National Center for Environmental Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) and the University of Arizona, Department of Geography and Climatology have agreed to each host a keynote speaker for this conference (Dr. Jeremy Hess and Dr. Andrew Comrie) to address specific health and environmental issues in Tucson, Arizona and the region related to climate change. The emphasis will be on solutions and prevention with the objective to inspire the health community to begin planning that will mitigate or eliminate the potential impacts of increased temperatures, evolving new infectious disease epidemics, food insecurity, and water quality and scarcity.

Health professionals and students to include public health, clinical medicine, social work, nursing, psychology, pharmacy and public health. Continuing education accreditation requested for 4 disciplines.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical educaton for physicians. The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center designates thiseducational activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
